Everything ZWave disappeared

I've had an ISY for sometime now and just over a year ago, added the ZWave daughter card.  I was working fine with a few devices here and there mostly switches / dimmers a siren and multisensor motion detection.  About a week ago, one of my programs associated to a kitchen switch and motion sensor started acting kind of weird.  Lights would stay on and not shut off or the lights wouldn't come on at all.  I thought maybe the ISY needed a reset and went ahead and reset it.  All was well for a couple days until it started again.

This time I logged into the console and looked at the program with the switch and sensor to find the sensor was missing from the program.  I don't have the error, but it was similar to the 4.x errors with green comments about it not being supported etc.  I went ahead and rebooted and even tried a heal after.  After the reboot and more looking, I saw NONE of my ZWave devices were "registered" to the ISY...  They were ALL missing.  In the console, I still see the ZWave menus and it (daughter board) appears to respond normally, but I have 0 devices any more.  I can't exclude or include any old or new devices.  I'm sort of lost when it comes to troubleshooting this.

Any help or where to look / start would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you have a PLM in the setup. So both Z-Wave and Insteon modules are being used?

The PLM's have a known issue of power supply failures after two years and a few months.

If you have a PLM you may want to go into Tools Diagnostics PLM Info/Status and see what is reported.

I don't know if a failing PLM can effect Z-Wave. Cycling power and things work for awhile is one symptom of a dying PLM.

Try the Z-Wave synchronize command.

PLM Connected

Synchronize ran:

Mon 10/02/2017 11:15:23 PM : [ZWAVE-NODE-SYNC] ---- Start Processing Z-Wave Node 1 (0x01) ----

From the log it shows one device was synced, did it show back up? But it sounded like you had more than one zwave device? Have you done a zwave backup with all the devices? Also, power off the ISY and power back on may help since that's the only way to reset the zwave board.

I believe the 1 device that did a sync was the actual ZWave dongle.  Right?

No devices have reappeared and I still cannot exclude or include any other new or old ZWave devices.

I did a power reset again this morning and nothing has changed.

I'm totally at a loss.  ISY says the ZWave dongle is there, it says it's connected...  it just doesn't do anything.

EDIT, One thing I did try was a ZWave restore, but it looks like that was from almost a year ago.  I definitely did have devices on the system back then (checked on order dates)...  so the restore didn't work either.

I did have more than 1 device...  6 or 7 in total ZWave devices.

Yes, you are correct, the one device is the dongle.

Do you know if your zwave backup is recent?  If so, you can restore it to the dongle, the sync again.

But, you may want to send a ticket to support so it can be tracked.

EDIT: I see you edited while I thought I was replying but didn't hit submit...  How do tell the date of the zwave backup? If you restored an empty backup you may be out of luck and you'll have to add exclude/include the devices again.

The backup is from almost a year ago.  I thought I saw a date flash up on the screen right as I did the restore.  I don't mind rebuilding, in fact I tried to exclude a couple devices to then re include and they just don't show up at all in either process.  Nothing in logs.  Both say listening for devices and I wait and wait but nothing shows up.

I have some time tonight to play with it again.  I may try to do a backup of the whole device and reset it to factory then restore the insteon side and try to re-add everything ZWave again.

Will post back.
