Status of Yale Zwave Deadbolt.

Hi.

I'm in the process of setting up Elk.

Finally (not without frustrations) got Elk set up in ISY with both systems talking to each other.

Looks like ISY integration with Elk works fine if you are only concerned about lights and on-off switches (Insteon)

but Zwave thats another story and you have to jump through hoops to get it working.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Elk so it is possible that I just missing something.

My question is:

How to you integrate Zwave deadbolt that is a part of Isy network into Elk.

How do you make Elk aware of lock's status?

How do you make Elk not ready to arm system if any of my 4 locks are unlocked?

Thanks

P.S I'm sure I'll have more questions:(

I use the ISY-Elk integration module. For "integration", I make zero effort to control any devices directly from the Elk. The programming for Elk is VERY limited and difficult. All device control I do with ISY programs and also manipulate my Elk with ISY programs since it's so easy with the integration module. I recommend you do the same.

For the very few exceptions where I want the Elk to be aware of a device state on ISY, I take advantage of a unused "phantom" output (anything unused above 65). I have the ISY turn on the output and have an Elk program that sets a local variable to track the state for use in Elk programs. I have the Elk do this as well to "communicate" things the ISY can't see. For example, the Elk knows which user ("Last User") armed/disarmed the system but the ISY doesn't see that. So an Elk program triggers on a specific Last User which turns on an a phantom output that the ISY monitors to set a variable for use in programs I've written.

When leaving my house, I don't actually use my Elk keypad to arm the system. I have a 6-button KPL at the garage door where I leave. I use that to "arm" my Elk. Turning a KPL button on runs a series of programs to run checks on things such as you're trying to do. Once all passes, then the ISY arms my Elk for my exit.

Again, all programs for control I wrote exclusively on the ISY. I have no devices imported into Elk. All is working well and reliably doing everything I want.

Thanks for reply and explanation.

I started working on it and it seams like a major PITA.

Here is some stuff I did.

ISY :1. If Patio Door Lock is unlocked set output 101 to "ON"

        2. If Patio Door Lock is locked set output 101 to "OFF"

Elk- Rules: 1. If output 101 is on display message:Patio Door Unlocked.

                     2. If output 101 is on unbypass Zone16(assigned to Patio Door).

                     3. If output 101 is off display message:"Patio Door Locked"

                     4. If output 101 is off bypass Zone16

I thought that integration would mean Elk is aware that Door Lock is a door lock not On-Off switch.

Could you advice if I should do it differently.

Thanks.

PITA :-(
