Help - lost all zwave devices

Featured Replies

Posted

I made a backup of my ISY 994i and did an upgrade to 4.6.2

Now, every single zwave device is showing with a red exclamation, including my door locks, door sensors, etc. there isn’t a single zwave device that the ISY is communicating with. I tried “healing” which completed, but didn’t help. Whenever i try to query a device, i get the system busy then the “can’t communicate with xxxxxx, please check connections” message.

Please don’t tell me I’m going to have to exclude/include every device. Which also means I’ll have to edit every program too

Restore from backup didn’t do anything either. Every device still has a red exclamation.

Any solutions?

Joe

Try the Z-Wave synchronize command.

Well, i would but i already started excluding and then including each device. I’m halfway though, but now another issue... under the zwave menu, i no longer have a menu item to allow for including and excluding. Under the zwave menu, only two choices are showing up... “Z-wave dongle not responding” (selecting this does absolutely nothing) and “Upgrade Z-wave firmware”

If i open up event viewer, I can see the ISY talking just fine with the zwave devices that i excluded then included back in. So what is up with the dongle not responding menu item, when obviously the dongle is working. I have rebooted several times, no luck with getting the menu items under zwave back. It looks like i’m stuck

I updated the firmware, and the menu items came back. So, i selected the synchronized command. Now, every single zwave device, including the ones that i had just excluded and included and had working again, All disappeared!

I had this issue earlier on a slight different process. I did the upgrade normally, then I went to the Zwave firmware update menu and IGNORED the big red box telling I'll lost all nodes if I don't change the commander. So, was my fault and I had to remove all nodes (because they keep paired to ISY dongle) then add all again.

Zware is far more complex to me than Insteon devices.. Insteon holds the configuration on each device, Zwave does different, maybe holds the nodes and some configuration as well, but almost impossible to recover from the device.

Remember that your Zwave device tells you when it's paired by for Aeon example blinking the LED or changing LED color constantly, if not behaving like that proceed to exclusion process again.

Yes, upgrading the zwave firmeware overwrites the devices stored on the dongle, so a sync will loose everything. Have you ever done a zwave backup? If so you can restore it and sync again.
