jc986 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 As I've been adding more and more z-wave the one thing I haven't found yet is an equivalent to the 6 and 8 button Insteon dimmers which I have used as scene controllers. Does anyone have suggestions for Z-Wave scene controllers that will work with the V5 ISY firmware? Thanks
G W Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 There really isn't such as yet. Inovelli is working on some designs but is very early in the drawing stage. Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk
stusviews Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 There are no Z-Wave equivalent devices, but there are 4-scene controllers available. Actually, I just found a 5-scene controller, but the reviews are less than stellar.
paulbates Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 There are these 4 button from Leviton. I would trust the quality, but at $128 ea ... ouch! Plus, I had the ancestor X10 versions of the above 10 years ago before switching to Insteon. These zwave versions would be a big, expensive step backwards for me Paul
arf1410 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I've got a hybrid X-10 / insteon system. one of the reason I am staying with X-10 as long as possible, is I like the quality and feel of the smarthome switchlinc X10 switches better than the insteon ones, and I I like my in all 5 button Leviton X10 controllers, much better than my 6 buttn in-wall INsteon controllers. Anyone have any feedback on the build quality and feel of the Cooper RFWC5WS in wall controller?
jc986 Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 As you may have read in another thread, I purchased two of the Aeotech Wallmote Quad devices to give them a try as scene controllers. Unfortunately, they aren't fully supported just yet, but I have been able to make them work using programs to control scenes and devices. It's handy not having to have them installed in a wall. The reason I took the leap was because I needed something to control the multitude of fans I use for my indoor bicycle training setup. Needless to say, getting off the bike to push a button on the wall isn't really an ideal solution. The battery powered, portable, Wallmote was just the ticket for this use case.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hi jc986, What's your ISY's firmware version? With kind regards, Michel
KSchex Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I was looking at Aeotec this morning, they have some new devices. Not sure if this helps but, one is a 4 button "Wallmote". https://aeotec.com/z-wave-wireless-switch . Not sure of the compatibility issue. Maybe someone else can elaborate on their experience.
jc986 Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Hi jc986, What's your ISY's firmware version? With kind regards, Michel I'm running 5.0.11C
Chris Jahn Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Unfortunately, they aren't fully supported just yet, but I have been able to make them work using programs to control scenes and devices. Hi jc986, You should be able to use the Wallmote as a scene controller in an ISY Scene using native links, but you have to be sure the lamp/fan/etc. is compatible. Using programs instead is obviously fine as well.
Irakandjii Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I bought the wall mote. It works as a button etc. but, I cannot light an indicator led like I did on the Insteon Keypad. This is a significant down side for me, since I cannot provide feedback to the user.

I suppose that means that I won't be able to use the scene buttons in any ISY scenes that are mixed Insteon and -Z-Wave devices? Would I also be correct in assuming that some of the other association groups will only work with native links as well?
