Z-Wave Devices Showing as Red in Admin interface

Featured Replies

I'm setting up a new system on 5.0.11B and observe a strange behavior with Z-Wave devices.  All the devices that I set up are shown in RED in the Admin GUI.  In addition, in using the API, I am getting "ERR" events (not _3/NE but "ERR" events) for these devices.

However... they are working fine.  On, Off, Query, all work perfectly fine.

All three of the devices I have tested are relay-ish  (on/off only) devices: two different brands of outlets and the Aeon siren.

Turning on lots of logging in the Admin GUI doesn't seem to pop any errors out.  Everything is working great, except that the Admin GUI (and the RESTful API) thinks that something is wrong.

What indication do you have that the Admin Console thinks something is wrong?

Well, two things.

One, things are in red (see picture attached to post); I am assuming that whoever designed the GUI is not a moron and things are in red for a reason.

More importantly, the API thinks so: if I send something to the API, then I get back a status followed by an ERR event, indicating an error (although the documentation doesn't cover ERR events).  Doing the same thing to not-Zwave and not-Red elements doesn't generate ERR responses.
