mikek Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 I just installed a GoControl GC-TBZ48, and am having trouble setting the heat on/off thresholds. The default settings are ON at "Setpoint -1" at OFF at "Setpoint". What works best for my situation is ON at "Setpoint -1" and OFF at "Setpoint +1". Neither the local interface nor the ISY console will allow me to do that. They both will allow any other combination of on/off values that I try, but won't accept of -1/+1. I temporarily set it to -2/0 and adjusted the desired setpoint accordingly, but doing things like this bugs me to no end. So I called Nortek support and after explaining multiple times that I know how to get into the advanced settings menu and made multiple efforts to explain to tech support that I did already try his proposed solutions, he finally agreed to test it on a unit he had there. Big surprise - same problem. The real kicker though, was his recommendation, something along the lines of "I guess it's a programming issue, there's nothing we can do about it, and if you don't like it send it back and go find another thermostat that does what you want it to do." So what now? Yes, it's annoying not having it set the way I want, but I can live with it. The two bigger issues are (1) a concern that there may be more "programming issues" that I discover down the road and (2) I really don't want to give Nortek the business. I chose that model because of the reasonable price and very simple local interface for others who use the system. Does anyone have any recommendations on another z-wave thermostat that meets these criteria? Has anyone else had bad experiences with Nortek devices, or are they generally a safe bet?
