danbutter
I can't imagine how this isn't broken, but sometimes there are tricks to these things so I figured I'd ask. Bought a new dual band insteon dimmer (2 actually, but one works fine) and when hooked up it comes on full, but won't dim or even turn off. I tried factory reset and that didn't change anything. The lights on the side go up and down as I hold the paddle to dim or turn on and off, but the light never goes off or changes brightness. Any thoughts? Thanks Link to comment
paulbates
What is the load being controlled? Based on what you listed, the path heads that way. If you remove or unhook the load, or use some other load, what happens? Paul Link to comment
Brian H
If a different load also stays full On and the wiring is double checked. It could be a defective module. Where the output is stuck On even though the modules LEDs indicate it is dimming or going off. Link to comment
danbutter
The load is what I asked about in this thread: I have six of these super thin lights and one philips https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/046677433147/slimstyle-a19 The extra philips in the circuit made the strobe effect go away. I have the same exact setup, but with four of the super thin fixtures and it works fine with the Insteon 2477D. Right now I have an Inovelli NZW31 Dimmer controlling the six plus one circuit and it is fine. Acts the same as the one with four plus one. Would rather have the 2477D though. Look and feel consistency and all. I'll have to try to bench test it with a single bulb and see what happens. Link to comment
paulbates
Eliminating the load is step one. Also, sometimes Insteon switches need to be factory reset. I would probably do the load investigation first, if that yields nothing, factory reset (followed by a restore device) If neither of those helps, I would call it defective Paul Link to comment
danbutter
I did try the factory reset already and I never even added it to my ISY. I'll try to bench it tomorrow if I can carve out a few mins to do so. Link to comment
lilyoyo1
When you attempted the factory reset did you hold the button in until the buzzing stopped (about 10 sec.). I know it sounds crazy asking but many people do it improperly. Another thing is to make sure it's a 2477d and not a 2477s Link to comment

It may sound crazy, but not waiting until the final lengthy beep stops sounding is the most common error. Link to comment

danbutter
Well I did make sure to wait for the beep to stop and tonight I took a few mins to test with another load (incandescent bulb) and no luck. The load is full on no matter what the switch (and I did double check it is a dimmer...good point on that one!!) says on the lights. Link to comment
lilyoyo1
At this point it sounds like it's bad. I would return it for a replacement Link to comment
