Zstick

I'm trying to add a Zstick to the ISY (4.6.2) as a secondary zwave controller but have bot been successful.  Has anyone had success adding the Zstick?

Hi Techman,

Do you get any errors?

With kind regards,
Michel

Nope, no errors.

Nothing happens. I've rebooted the ISY and factory reset the Zstick but the zstick won't show up in the ISY

Any suggestions??

What I would like to do is add the Zstick to the ISY so I can update the firmware on the Multisensor 6 which are part of the ISY Zwave network.

Based on what Aeotec has said I shouldn't have to transfer the devices from the ISY to the Zstick.  Once the Zstick is added I should be able to run the "over the air" Aeotec firmware update program.

I don't understand why the ISY won't add the Zstick.

Hi Techman,

I have no clue. It should add as a switch (at the minimum). Is it possible to factory reset the stick and retry?

With kind regards,
Michel

I've tried factory resetting the stick several times, but the ISY doesn't see it. I've held it next to the ISY and also tried holding it near a repeater, but no luck.

The stick works as a stand alone device when it's plugged into the computer.

Add my name to the clueless list.

No devices are linked to the zstick

I don't have one and therefore have no experience with one, but can you enroll something with it?

Maybe it is defective if you can't.

It's not defective. I can add modules to the zstick and update the module's firmware via the zstick.

Hi Techman,

If your ISY is the primary (please make sure it is), then it should work. This is the minimal functionality required by all Z-Wave devices. If it does not work, then, either your ISY is not the primary controller for your Z-Wave network or something is wrong with the stick. Can you include anything else using ISY?

With kind regards,

Michel

I use a Homeseer stick here without issue.  ISY V5, added the stick as a secondary controller.  It picks up the device list from the ISY and I can flash my HD100+s with Z-Flash.

When not flashing I just pull it from the computer and leave it included in the ISY config.

I gave up trying to add the Zstick to the ISY and removed the device from the ISY, added it to the Zstick, updated the firmware then added it back to the ISY.

Not sure why the ISY wouldn't see the stick, but for now it's water under the bridge.

I just bought a z-stick for use as a secondary and the ability to update firmware on the Aeotec multi sensor as well. I have also updated my z-wave hardware with the latest beta and the ISY simply cannot see the z-stick as a secondary controller or any other device. This is just to confirm @Techmanexperience. Like @Techman I removed the multi sensor from the ISY and added it to the Z-stick and then swapped it back to the ISY.

Some time ago I found this link. Not sure if will do what you want.

https://www.activeautomation.co.nz/boards/topic/3/adding-aeotec-z-stick-as-a-second-controller-to-an-existing-z-wave-network

and some other info on SUC/SIS

https://github.com/cdjackson/HABmin/wiki/ZWave-SUC-Controller-Mode

And

http://forums.axialcontrol.com/thread/how-to-use-zensys-tools-to-setup-incontrol-as-secondary-controller/

oh ya ...the Zensys Tools program is no longer supported and is not available from the original source ... but you can find it easily with a google search for ‘zensys tools’.
