davefred99 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I have been using ISY with Insteon for several years now and recently decided to add some Zwave into the mix. As most of my Insteon stuff is getting pretty aged over the years and I have had my share of failures along the way so it just seemed time to try something new. Well it took me about 15 minutes to install the Zwave Daughter card in my ISY and another 10 minutes to replace my first failed Insteon paddle switch. Turned on my laptop and loaded the admin console ordered the Zwave $1module and was ready to add my first zwave device. To my surprise as soon as set the add zwave in the program and pushed the toggle switch once it was done. So Since I bought two switches I installed the second and it went the same way. Seems easier than adding an Insteon switch to me. I know this is a small sample but so far I am impressed and think I have found a new solution to upgrading many of my old and failing Insteon Stuff going forward. Oh ya the switches I used were GE Zwave plus on off paddle switches if anyone wants to know.
khargy Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Quote I currently have a Insteon only setup and am thinking about adding zwave into the mix... zwave is wireless only? How far can the ISY be from the first module? Also did you order the card directly from Universal Devices? Looks like the shipping is really expensive and it's backordered from Orchestrated Home, is there anywhere else to buy it?
