Can not communicate with xxx sensor, I/o line 2450

I've been using a 2450 to control a water valve for watering garden for several years. One day I came home to find valve still open and water everywhere. Checking Universal Devices admin console, the sensor gave the subject error. I rebooted ISY, ended up resetting 2450 and reprogramming and all was well for a while, then it happened again. I had another 2450 that I then reset and programmed to replace suspect one. It does the same thing. I can turn valve on and off thru admin console but don't have any confidence that program will work while I'm away. I also redid the program, but that has no bearing on it either. Remember I've used this setup for several years and it worked fine, watering garden several times a day and shutting off. I have a new 2450 but will be gone for a few days. Any thoughts on this error? I have tried restoring device and writing to device several times, sometimes I get the error, sometimes not. PS, while writing this post, the Failed Communicating with error flashed on my screen again. Also as additional info, there is nothing connected to the sense input or terminal. Just power, ground, N/O and Common.

It sounds like you may have some noise on the powerline.

haver you added any new electronics, appliances, power supplies, etc, lately?

Run the event viewer in level 3 and turn the IOLinc. on and off from the admin console, post the results on the forum.

The 2450 I/O Linc device is an old design, single band ( powerline signal only ). I believe it uses the same power supply design as the PLM’s that are subject to failure about every 2 years. How old are your 2450’s? Being powerline only they are subject to any powerline interference. Have you added any devices of any kind to this circuit?

I have an Insteon access point in my detached garage to support to iolincs because therye’re single band. You could test if this idea works; you could temporarily plug a lamplinc into the iolinc and see if the problem goes away. If that works, permanently place a spare lamplinc there or order an Insteon range extender (the latest version of the access point)

Not sure if this is what you asked about or not.  I ran the program then and else a couple of times.   Did get the error again.

Communications doesn't appear to be a problem, but you have errors in your log and I'm not sure what's causing them. It's probably best to submit a ticket to UDI and let them take a look at your log.    Submit a Ticket:  http://www.universal-devices.com/contact-support
