Anyone have any idea or experience with The Button being compatible with 4.6.2 even as an on/off?  Thanks..

I am using two of "The Button" with 5.0.13C and they mainly work but usually not the first time pressed. Does the first press just awaken it???

At factory default state, when enabled to send all of its scene alerts, it was very unreliable in triggering an ISY program.  I found that setting its parameters such that The Button only responds to single-presses and just sends a toggle 0/100% alert, it seems to work better........  It is still to be far from 100% reliable. Both buttons perform equally good /bad in my system.

Thanks for the reply.  You have gotten further than I.  My ISY does not recognize it at all.  I know the button transmits data to the ISY each time it is pressed as I can see it in my spectrum analyzer.  Guess "The Button" is going back to Amazon.  Incompatibilities seem to dominate this industry; Home Automation.

You are using a much older firmware that definitely would not work with that type of device so it doesn't have a chance of seeing the ISY. Not saying the 5.0 branch will work (I don't use that device) but upgrading would be your best chance at success.

I appreciate the tip but gviliunas and I are both using 5.0.13C.

I didn't know. Your original post said you were using 4.6.2 so that's what I was going off of. He was able to add it so there is  some recognition of the device going on. His issue could be different things. Without knowing his set-up it would be impossible to ascertain what exactly is going on.

I started out with 4.6.2 which did not see it at all, then upgraded to 5.0.13c.  5.0.13c saw it but was unreliable.  I found a similar problem with the Aeotec panic button fob.  Thanks again.

I just purchased one of these buttons and it does not seem to work. It says in the instructions to hit it 6 times to make it discoverable but it does not seem to work for me. I might have a DOA device but I thought I would send a query just in case I am doing something stupid.

I click on

Zwave

Add a Zwave device

Click the button 6 times (yes I removed the paper on the battery)

Nothing happens?

It took me several tries to get it included.  I found that The Button is unreliable.  Sometimes it misses taps as well as sometimes thinking it is a double tap when it is not.  I sent them all back to Amazon and bought a couple of Aeotec Wallmotes.  Good luck.

I finally gave up on "The Button" after having to tap the $%^%$# things multiple times to get it to listen.

BUT,.........it you don't mind the "game toy" look, I found that the Amazon Alexa buttons triggering Alexa routines works 100% and you get a green-led feedback.

Also, these are ~50% of the cost of "The Button"

I totally agree with you.  THE BUTTON is trash.  I have spent many hours trying to get one working with very poor results.

New Good experience with Fibaro's "The Button." (The buttons I tested are v3.2US)

@madmartian inspired me to look at my old stock and resurrect this old thread to update my previous comments and share this new experience. After a day of testing, I now find The Button works and seems to be reliable in an ISY environment.

For me there are projects that need to be fully done and those that get started only to be shelved without urgency.  Back in 2019 and with ISY firmware 5.0.13C, I tried two of "The Button." After doing the 6 push and the 5  push plus hold dance many Many times, I came to the sad conclusion that The Button, while pretty, was unreliable. ISY often missed button presses. I thought button firmware or switch was to blame. Fibaro offered warranty but I would need to send the devices to Poland. Canada Post rates are WAY too high to ever consider that so these went off to my box of unused hardware until...

Yesterday, I powered these up and tried setting them up in an ISY  firmware 5.0.16C environment. I'm glad that I did.

My two buttons connected properly and without drama.  Upon inclusion, 4 nodes are created for each button. I only wanted to trigger programs with a Control Switched On via one button press construct so set the following Z-Wave parameters (all 1-byte):

Parameter      Value

        1                  1

        3                  4

       10                 0

       20                 0

       30                 0

I created programs that look for the "Scene Button 1" node for each The Button to be switched ON. When this happens, I "beep" an Insteon wall switch. I played with both buttons many times yesterday and again this morning and now find them both to be fully reliable. Nearly every time I press either button, the programs run and wall switch beeps.

I'm not sure if this new experience is due to tightening-down the parameter settings (Used default settings back in 2019) or the ISY firmware upgrade.

@gviliunas Thanks for the good news.  I think I still have mine in my junk box.  Guess they are not junk after all.  It's to bad that  "The Button" was blamed  when it was ISY compatibility all along.  Hum-hum.  Thanks again Gviliunas.

Its a little of both. The problem that I've found with Fibaro is that many of their products require some custom coding in order to work properly with other systems.

So when my button arrives, what should I make it do? And yes, I bought a tapered square flower pot to mount it on.

If true, that’s bad *** - Love to see it!

If MM pushed The Button and I'm not on the "losing end," do I get a cut?

You truly make my day with all of your one off comments! ? ?

Well this is odd. My button order was cancelled! I got the following message:

"Thank you for your purchase. This device operates at 868.4 Mhz z-wave frequency which is typically used in Europe, while the US uses 908.4 Mhz.
Since this device is not on the correct z-wave frequency and not allowed for use in your country I will have to cancel your order.
"

Has anyone else heard of this? Do they make two versions of the button - one for the US - or is this crazy?

A few weeks ago the same happened to me when ordering an Everspring AN145 on Ebay.  It was a seller from Europe who realized that I was a US buyer. Indeed, the Zwave frequencies are different in different continents.
