Any way to get Google to read a variable value?

I see in the isy portal that you can use state variables as on/off devices and set them to a value. What I am looking for is a way to ask google what a value is. I want to start setting a variable for my pool temperature and want to be able to ask google what that temp is. Any thoughts on this?

A variable is exposed to Google Home as if it was a dimmer. So as you already know, you can set it to a specific value by asking to turn it on to a specific percentage.

You can ask something like: Okay Google, what is the kitchen brightness?

This will tell you the actual variable value. This is not too intuitive, but it works.

I'm speaking theoretically here since I haven't tried this, but the portal does support reporting theremostat temps upon a logical statement listed as "what is the inside temperature".  The logic does fail since the pool is not "inside".  I also don't know what it does if you have more than one thermostat since that command as listed in the wiki includes no mention of the device name.  I have seen hacks where people have adapted ISY linkable thermostats to read temps from liquids.
