lbudler Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 I have had a insteon Garage door kit (74551) for about one year. Recently it lost it's communication link with my ISY. Prior to loosing it communication link the system ran pretty well. Then it suddenly lost it's com link. I attempted to reestablish the link, the only thing that would enable the com link was to plug the I/O 250 device link as the ISY into the same wall plugin via a long extension cord. The ISY found the control device & door status. I issued an operate command from the ISY and the door operated but immediately lost the com link between the ISY and the I/O 250 again. I am getting ready to junk the insteon 74551 in favor of a zwave garage door opening system. Does anyone have a idea why the communication link is being lost? I do have a bridge in my power control ox the is connected between phases.
Brian H Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 The I/OLinc is a power line only Insteon Module. It is possible that something is causing power line noise or signal absorption. Using the same circuit and being able to control it.Is another indication you may have a communication issue. Any new or moved electronics in the home. I have seen some reports of the LED or CFL light bulbs in the opener staring to make noise. Maybe try it with the bulbs temporarily removed. Disconnecting electronic devices in the home as a test may show something. Some chargers are also know to cause issues sometimes.
paulbates Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 To back up Brian's point, I plugged in an access point (older version of the newer range extender) near the iolinc in the garage, and that's fixed it ever since. A lamp module or appliance module would have the same effect Paul
