io_guy Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 I have a ZW4101 GE Z-Wave Plug-In switch that I'm trying to exclude (but can't). I start exclusion, hit the button on the module, ISY exclusion window goes away but the device stays. Nothing in the log (just the start and stop of exclusion). If I try to tear it out with the "Removed Failed Node" I get: Haven't had a lot of success with the Gen2 Z-Wave module thus far. My Schlage locks which use to be 100% reliable don't work now. I've added a couple Aeotec Switch 6s for repeaters but it doesn't help. Trying to get rid of all ZW300 devices now to see if it will help routing because a heal currently doesn't do much.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 @io_guy, Most probably because it's not one of the devices in ISY. Right mouse click | Z-Wave | Remove failed node. Did you go through the migration process for your Z-Wave devices? With kind regards, Michel
io_guy Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Michel, I did the migration, which went ok. All devices can be controlled by the ISY but they are very unreliable. Healing doesn't appear to do anything because I unplug a few old devices but the routing remains trying to go through them. The error msg I posted above is from executing the "remove failed node".
Michel Kohanim Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 @io_guy, Thank you. It seems that that node is NOT failed. i.e. it still exists in the dongle. At this point I think it would be best to factory reset your dongle, do Synchronize nodes, and then restore your old backup. Once that's done, all nodes that cannot be initialized can be removed (hopefully) with remove failed node. With kind regards, Michel
io_guy Posted November 22, 2018 Author Posted November 22, 2018 I'm still having zero love with the new module. I restored by backup and removed the old nodes successfully. Now onto reliability (ISY mounted vertically). With the old setup (2 locks, water valve, 2 plug-ins for repeaters) the locks worked 99.9% of the time and fast. With the new z-wave module I've removed the 2 old gen plug-ins and added 2 aeotec repeater 6s and 2 aeotec switch 6s. My locks work about 5% of the time. When I command a lock to lock/unlock over the Rest interface mostly it fails but the disturbing one is sometimes the lock will lock/unlock 10-15 minutes later. Curious why the signal propagates that line and a bit of a security risk if I assume it failed then leave the house and 10 minutes later the door opens. The other weird part about the locks is that status seems to work pretty well (if I lock/unlock a door manually it shows in the ISY), it's control that is the issue. From here all I can try is to factory reset everything and re-add. I've gone all-in now with Z-Wave+ including 6 leak sensors so if I can't get this to work I'll be moving it over to HASS or Homeseer.
