Create new list for Z-wave devices

I think we should have a forum topic on Z-wave devices. People can share their positive results as well as the negative and not compatible results. It might be a good idea for Universal-Devices to maintain  a compatibility list of devices that are supported, partially supported or not supported.

I too would like to see this and would be glad to include my experiences.  Perhaps a table with an entry form.  It should include the ISY software Rev, device mfg, device model number, and, device software revision as well.

I realize you can't cover everything but you can assist users in guiding them as to what works thereby saving them money and having a good experience with the ISY and their home automation.

If most people just knew what products worked the best; they would just buy those products. Plus this input could help the programmers make the products work better with the ISY.

Manufactures would love to help as well and maybe we can get the ISY listed with them as compatible hubs.....it would be good for ISY sales.

A list sounds good but would quickly overwhelm most people and become convoluted as new revs, new oems, and products pop up.

The problem isn't necessary with ISY not supporting something but how a manufacturer implements zwave in their products. For ease of use, I think people should stick with major players for a multitude of reasons. One being that they generally have basic zwave support the same. Specialty devices may or may not be supported but I think posting on the forum at that point makes it easily found along with subsequent discussions on that specific product.

When you say "major brands"; how on earth would people know which ones are major or not. Why not let us tell other which ones work and which ones have issues.

Not the case of Inovelli

I have had some success with the Invoelli switch. Keep in mind that you need to cut power and hold down the on button for factory reset (no air gap on this switch so this fun). You can also force an inclusion mode by hitting the on button 6 times; if you miss it when you first turn it on (which it goes in to inclusion on first power on).

This is an example of what I want for ISY owners to see.

Major brands are simply major names. Any simple Google search will bring up certain manufacturers regularly. You will generally find the same names on any automation forum as well. A list would tell you that a device is compatible but that's it. It wouldn't go into detail about people's views and experiences. A forum post about that specific product does that which allows for greater Insight.

Thats not to say small names or no name companies won't work or can't be used. It's simply a toss-up at that point

Ever since 5.0.13 and new Zwave board I have been unable to exclude / include Inoveli switches, even after Eric (Inovelli) sent me a new switch.

"......cut power and hold down the on button for factory reset........" . I suppose that you do the hold down with power ON ?

I have not been able to properly exclude any z-wave device that I have on the ISY. I usually just do the factory reset (with the Inovelli; hold down the on as you power it for 5+ seconds).
