silverton38 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Z-wave has the ability to send a single ON or OFF code to all devices that are configured to receive it. The advantage here is that all devices turn on or off instantly and you do not have to watch the popcorn affect. The instant ON and OFF is something that I really like about Insteon. It would could work really well with special ISY ALL ON/OFF SCENE. Here is how it could work. There is a Scene option that allows for the Z-wave ALL ON/OFF option to be enabled. When the scene is sent an ON or OFF it would send the Z-wave ALL ON or OFF and the assume all Z-wave devices were set to the ON or OFF that was sent. All insteon devices would go ON or OFF as normal. All Z-wave devices that enter this scene would have their "respond to ALL ON/OFF" enabled There would be some programming but this could be a game changer for the ISY because it could be the high end hub that solves the z-wave popcorn affect!!!

The hard part about that is not all devices support the Switch_all command class. Even for the devices that does it has to be enabled individually on the device itself. While nice, I think it would cause unnecessary confusion and frustration for most users since most mfg. Implement things differently.
silverton38 Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 I would agree that some devices do not have this feature but most do. It does have to be set on an individual basis but that can happen automatically if it is added to the Scene. The ISY could recognize a device that does not and just send an ON or OFF as they do now.
