Node Servers not showing up in admin console

NodeLink Server v0.9.27 running on raspberry pi 3.

Background:

I have a Cisco C3750G switch that has multiple vlans used to segregate my network at home. The raspberry pi and the ISY are on the same network using VLAN "9". My desktop running debian is on VLAN "8". I am running pfSense as my firewall/router. Firewall rules have been correctly configured so that my desktop has access to both the raspberry pi and the ISY. I have used the node link install script at https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/25075-nodelink-raspberry-pi-install-script/ to install node link. No errors were observed during installation.

 

The issue:

"Node Servers" is not showing up in the ISY Admin Console. I am accessing the admin console from my debian box. I am able to log in and use the application correctly and update the time zone information. I am able to open the node link web interface. I have configured the ISY ip address, username and password in the node link web interface. From the log it seems that node link is able to connect to the ISY. Below are the steps that I took to install/configure nodeLink.

I didn't read through your whole post, but the first screen shot shows that your UI is not matching the v5 firmware.

See the ISY launcher for running the correct UI.

You either need to purchase the Network Resource module separately or subscribe to the ISY Portal which includes it to use node servers.

I purchased the network module. I just checked the nodelink documentation on  automationshack and do not see the network module listed as a requirement. Might be good to mention it. I do see it in the DSCLink documentation.

DSCLink and the other non-Nodelink apps that io_guy wrote aren't node servers at all (pre-5.0 ISY), and I believe that they require the network module to change values in the ISY.  I agree that the Network Resource module should be called out as a general requirement for all node servers if it's not already.  The same thing has bitten other folks in the past.  I imagine that many folks who are dabbling in node servers now are "power users" more or less, already have the network module, and don't even think about it.

I don't believe this to be completely  correct.

V5 is required for Node servers to hook into ISY, but Network Resources are output only (from ISY) resources. io_guy has written many "bridges" (not node servers) that require the ISY to have  a REST interface which all ISY boxes are supplied with. The Rest interface in ISY allows reading and writing variable , programs and device statuses from a remote computer. Even most browsers will allow you to send a Rest packet and get a text response.

I expect that you're right about REST support being available by default in 4.x and beyond.  You'd definitely need network resources to communicate back to the external app without node server support, so that's probably why he calls out the Network Resources module as a requirement.

I have this same problem, I have the network module but it shows as uninstalled.  How do I get this installed?  ISY 5.0.14(beta).

I have everything port forwarded and can access the ISY remotely.

You would contact UDI support with your UUID number from your ISY. They control it from the "cloud". They will research and correct it.
