adamthp Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Does anyone know if the Yale YRD256-CBA-619 is supported in the ISY. I'm not even clear on the communication for this specific model. There is also Z-wave specific model of this lock, YRD256-ZW2-619. I would like to use the YRD256-CBA-619 to get the benefits of the August app integration, but I think ISY compatibility would be more important if I had to pick. Thanks

Thanks You would want the zwave version along with the zwave module (if you don't already have it) for the ISY in order for the lock and ISY to communicate with each other.
adamthp Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 got you. I did a little more digging this morning and I see its either the August module, or the Z wave module. Now for another question... which one works best for my situation. I'd love to get some feedback and ideas on this. I'm planning on using the lock for the door between my garage and my house. My wife is the one pushing for the lock as for an extra layer of security if we remotely open the garage door to have packages left inside etc., or just to help her feel safe when I'm not home. With the Z-wave version I could lock this via programs when we go to bed, or when I set the house to away when we are both out of the house, or I'm just out of the house. My question is unlocking it. I don't want to have to punch in a code in every time I get home to go from my garage into the house. I liked the bluetooth connectivity with the August option so it would auto un lock when we get close, but it seems like locking it via programs wouldn't work. I could maybe see setting up a program to have the z wave option unlock with a geofence and garage door opening. The problem here is my geofence is a little shaky. There is very limited cell network around my house, sometimes the geofence fires but not always. I'm using IFTTT to trigger my geofence programs... is locative a better option? Any thoughts or feedback would be welcome! Thanks

Any thoughts or feedback would be welcome! Thanks We have two homes in the same scenario as you, doors between the garages and the living areas. We chose Z-wave locks. The ability to include the locks in ISY programs far outweighed the minor inconvenience of entering a code to unlock the doors. I have a few programs to lock the doors. The ONLY program I use to unlock the doors is if a smoke alarm is activated.
adamthp Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Good call on the smoke alarm, I would't have thought about that.
