BigMoose Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Dear Forum i need to replace my PLM tomorrow but I am wondering if what I am going to do will cause problems. The last time I replaced it, I used a new one out of the box. It has been 2.5 years since I replaced it. Since then I repaired the old one using the directions I found in the Forum. Now I plan to replace the current one with the repaired one. Will this be ok or will I have old links that will cause a problem. Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

Old links won't be a problem if you perform a factory reset. From the Smarthome Quick Start Guide: "To reset the Power Line Modem to its original factory settings, unplug it from the wall outlet and wait 10 seconds. Press and hold its SET button, plug it back in, continue holding the SET button for 3 seconds and release. After several seconds, the Status LED will turn on, indicating a reset is complete." Thanks again In addition to the factory reset, be sure to follow the exact procedure in the attached file Replace ISY PLM.pdf 1
Brian H Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) The manual button Factory Reset is not necessary but a good measure anyway. The first progress message in the Restore Modem function is "PLM Reset". A software reset command is sent to the PLM. Edited February 28, 2019 by Brian H
BigMoose Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 I want to thank everyone for helping me with this replacement. Followed everyone's advice and it went smoothly. Hopefully with the new caps I won't have to replace for a long time. just curious if anyone knows the life of the PLM with the new capacitors. Maybe no one knows since no one has had to replace one with the new caps. One can only hope. Thanks again
