cayz Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 I recently got two more Fanlincs and installed them in my two last remaining ceiling fans. Lets say I installed them Feb 15. Around March 1, I started having issues with my Alexa not being able to control things (she would say they were turned ON, but they wouldn't), and my apps on my phone (not Alexa, but direct to the ISY994) would also stop working - tapping a light ON would not turn the light on. I had had issues before with bad PLMs, so I just ordered one, and did the standard "Replace PLM" steps - turn off ISY, replace PLM, turn on ISY, Restore Modem (PLM). Well, I got a bunch of devices that it couldn't reach. Like all of them. It also re-programmed the ON Level and Ramp Timer for the Fan Lincs to 0% and 9min, respectively (instead of 100% and 0.1 sec). It is also taking 15 forevers to do the Restore Modem - like 10-15 minutes. In the past, it would be done in <2 minutes. Yes, I have Automatic Write to Battery Devices turned off. Yes, I had replace the PLM back to the "old" one, same results. And here's the kicker - I'm leaving for a week's vacation on Monday. I'm thinking I have manual control of all of my lights, but all of my timers - I think are dead. I would like to at least get the basic timers back on (Turn the sink& family room lights on at dusk, off at dawn, etc.) Something for the pet sitter. Any help would be greatly appreciated! James
paulbates Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 James Do you have a recent backup the the ISY? If yes: Restore the back up Factory reset the new PLM unplug it from the wall outlet and wait 10 seconds. Press and hold its SET button, plug it back in, continue holding the SET button for 3 seconds and release. After several seconds, the Status LED will turn on, indicating a reset is complete. Restore PLM from the file menu Paul
cayz Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Paul, Thank you, yes I did do all of those. Question - the factory reset of PLM (same in both cases) - I unplug it, waited 30 seconds, press the Set button, keep it pressed, plug it in. As soon as I do that, I get a red LED. If I continue to hold it 3-5 seconds later, the LED turns off, then turns green. This is with the ISY either powered on or not. I'm not getting the expected "no led" for several seconds, the LED comes on RED immediately upon plugging it in. Is this an abnormal condition? Thanks. James
cayz Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Ok, Maybe this WAS a bad week to stop sniffing glue... I was sitting downstairs pondering my luck when I decided to see as much as I could without waking up the wife... Most devices with a directed load where doing OK, even if it was being switched by a remote KeypadLinc. The only things that weren't working were the fan lincs, since I didn't have them on any Keypadlincs. They were strictly Alexa or App control. So I decided to check my rear flood lights - just open the back door and see if they came on. Real important for the Pet Sitter... I unlock the door, and before I could get the screen door open - I get a chirp from my phone - my zwave kwikset had just told me that it had been unlocked. HUH? That goes through the PLM and to the ISY994i. How the heck??? Then I remember that my family room lights had turned off automatically on a timer between 10:15-10:45. I was so pissed at the time, I tried to get Alexa to turn it back on (no joy), and then just got up and turned it back on, that I didn't realized that the timer is dependent upon the ISY & PLM working. I run back upstairs to the computer nearest the ISY, and sure enough, most of the controls were back. The FanLincs weren't, initially, and still have funky ramp & On levels, but when I adjusted them, the writes were instanteous, and then they started working... I didn't dare do the one in the Bedroom - not waking the wife up. But, ok, it looks like it is back up and running, and there is nothing changed. (twilight zone music starts playing)

The few times I've had to do it, I recall it followed what the directions said. Looks like you're back up. Glad its good, you can go on vaca on not worry about it Paul
