Basic On/Off timer for an outlet

Featured Replies

Posted

Hello. I have been looking through the forums and have seen a lot of different timers but they all seem to be for more complicated setups than what I am trying to do. I am just trying to create a simple On/Off timer to turn a scene with multiple outlets on and off every 20 minutes all day and every day.

Any suggestions and help that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the UDI forums!!!

A simple re-kicker If section in case of stalling (reboot or user interference) and a looping repeat in Then should do your job.

If
    time is 8:00 AM
   OR
time is 8:00 PM    <------- more times could be added if critical that it runs.
Then
Repeat every 19 minutes   <-----this really means "Repeat after waiting 19 minutes".
        set Scene On
        Wait 1 minute
        set Scene Off
Else
    ----

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

@larryllix, would repeat really go first, or does it matter?

@jmpnjimbob I might also suggest to add (check) "random" option for the wait line (if you're leaving it on longer than 1 minute). Depending on what you're trying to accomplish. The random will make it look as though the lights aren't on a fixed schedule (more lived in look). Again, depending on what you're trying to accomplish it might look more random to have lights on and off at different times during the day.

But for the "simple and easy" way the above works fine.

Yes. Repeat only repeats following lines.

Thanks for the input, but I wasn't setting up a timer for lights, but basically a pump that I want to run periodically every hour. I will be wanting to create a scene to control lighting for times when I'm away in the near future so I'm hoping to find an examp!e or two to help me get that accomplished.
