House remodel/best way to decommission large Insteon network

The wife has decided remodeling our entire home is worth doing. So, about 2 months in, the electrician has removed or cut power to around 20 devices. I had over 80 Insteon devices live on the network prior to this, with another 40-ish ready to deploy, so I figured I better get ahead of the pairing/config curve.

Question is.. do I need to reconnect every device and gracefully back out of every pairing and scene?

Or, can I just blow everything up and reset every device once?

I've spent the last 8 hours reconnecting devices and removing scenes from ISY's folders so I can finally delete them. And my sanity (or lack of) is questioning if this is really necessary.

Advice welcome, thanks.

It sounds like a number of devices will remain in their current functions? If yes, I would delete the ones being ‘recycled’ for new functions from the ISY and any related programs, scenes, variables and resources for those. Reinstall them back into the ISY for their new functions.

I write the location of my insteon devices so that I know what they are supposed to control (I add before installing)and if I ever have to pull it out. If you're planning on reusing the same devices, I would recommend doing the same. That way once installed back, you limit how much you need to re-program.

If you have the pro version, you can disable linking and then set up your new scenes and programs as you wait for things to be installed (you don't want to delete the device from the isy). This will allow you to get ahead of of things and have the house functioning as soon as they are reinstalled.

Thanks. I'll take the time to delete what has already been removed with everything temporarily powered.

I do something similar. I put a sticker on the device with the name/location as a standardized string of Location-Device Type-Control which is their actual device name. I attached a screenshot of part of my list of devices in the console so you can see what I mean.

I wouldn't delete anything as you can still program the switches even if they went installed. If you don't have the pro version I recommend adding it. It's not that much but can help significantly as you can turn off linking, set everything up and then turn it back on when ready.
