jgcharlotte Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Anybody tried one of these? Compatible with ISY? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Insteon-Motion-Sensor-SkyLink-2420M-New-In-Box/143294600214?epid=10011375721&hash=item215d061416:g:A9wAAOSwZUhc0sFI
lilyoyo1 Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) It says insteon on the sensor so it would be compatible. If it were Skylink then it would not work. The information in the listing is bad as insteon and Skylink are not the same and their motion sensors are not compatible with each other's systems. Edited June 29, 2019 by lilyoyo1
gviliunas Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I believe that SkyLink manufactured to first-generation of Insteon motion sensors. Within this product line, I think that there were two main versions available. I think that one version used jumpers while the other could be programmed through ISY. (Sorry - cannot remember the particulars) Beware - These motion sensors worked but are the ones that are implicated for strange behavior including ALL-ON events when the batteries get low.
Brian H Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 (edited) I had a few2420M modules. They are Insteon Motion Sensors. Manufactured by SkyLink for Smarthome. The listing looked confusing to me also. There where more than one revision with some differences on how to set them up and later ones also had a updated part number 2842-222 Edited June 30, 2019 by Brian H
rlanza1054 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Hi, I use about 6 motion sensors throughout my apartment. And I actually use the ON ONLY command for the bathrooms. I use a second motion sensor to turn off the bathroom lights. So walk in it goes on and on only. Then when you walk out in the hallway there is another motion sensor with an ON ONLY setting but in it's case it actually turns off the bathroom lights. I did this so the bathroom lights don't turn off while your in there. And your right when the battery is going dead I found lights staying on. It actually makes me notice that something is wrong. So I call it a feature not a bug. I also have the ISY setup to send me a text message notifying me that the battery needs to be changed. I just purchased two Amazon wifi motion sensors. I haven't had the need or time to see how I would incorporate it into everything else. I have an extensive Alexa setup. I am using quite a few smart wifi power plugs and power strips. Along with Lifx, Nanoleaf etc. I haven't learned how to get the ISY to control those wifi devices. But via Alexa everything works pretty good. Rob
