Gas Leak Detector Integration

Ok, this house explosion that happened a few miles from me in Charlotte has me even more paranoid than I was before about natural gas.  I have seen a couple of threads from a couple years ago about z-wave detectors, has anyone come up with anything else?

Or.. . . .  is there a device that can send a signal or close a contact when placed near the detector and it listens for the piercing 85 db alarm?

I want to be able to get a warning, text, etc. if there is gas before we get home, open the garage door and blow up the house.

There are some gas leak detectors out there with dry contact outputs (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q3567DZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Sv7hDb0WVCYHX). You could hook the dry contact output up to an iolinc or zwave equivalent to connect to the ISY - or connect to a zone on an Elk panel.

Thanks.  I wouldn't use IOLinc.  Have not had good experience with them.  Open/close is more reliable in my experience.

I did find this z-wave sound sensor.  Ordered one to try out.

Agreed on the IOLinc. That's a neat device where the device you are monitoring produces audio. Personally - I'd still prefer hardwired for safety of life systems (I have devices wired to my Elk generally as non-alarm zones - but setup to call my phone if violated).

What I couldn't remember earlier was the zwave product I'm using with much greater success (compared to IOLinc devices) in some places in my home - the Fortrezz Mimo2 (https://www.amazon.com/FortrezZ-Z-WavePlus-MiMO2-Interface-Module/dp/B008D5066C/ref=sr_1_10).

Well I agree about hardwired for safety.  I designed industrial control systems for many years where it is standard practice to hardwire estops and other safety circuits with relays.

Update:  This guy did not work. It included in the network with 3 nodes:  battery level (fine), tamper switch (fine, it worked) and TEMPERATURE? Huh?  It registered as a multi-level sensor.  It didn't work with my gas detector either, the status LED never changed.  The gas detector may not have been the right frequency.to be detected.  The sound detector is tuned for fire and CO detectors.

Oh well. . . .

If you are using alexa app, it now has a option called GUARD, that when set to away alllows the dots, echo's, etc.. to monitor for noise.  Specifically optioned are glss breaking and CO/Smoke alarms.  If it detects these noises it will message you and also alert Rin or ADT if yu have their monitoring service.  If you have a dot, you could place it within earshot of the alarm and see if it triggers, if so add a dot for 30 bucks.  Hope this helped.

Wow, I didn't realize that, thanks!

We have 3 dots, the area I'm concerned about the most is the garage, we will never hear the beeping, even when home, and I want notification when away.  Yeah, dots are cheap to add one in the garage and they do have CPI Security skill which may integrate.  I'll have to look into it.

Thanks!

It worked pretty well with regular smoke detectors, but not this gas detector I have.  Bummer.  The beep is a little different than the smoke detectors and I think the software is not tuned for it.  Seems like it would not be that big a deal to record the sound you want it to respond to and use that for the alert.  That would be a great feature.
