jkraus Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 temporarily disconnected power, when restores Pwr, RX, TX green, but blinking red error LED, tried power cycling, same issue, what can I do?
jkraus Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 hmmm. got it working after unplugging/plugging network connection several time, but wish I knew the reason this happens Joe
Michel Kohanim Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Hi Joe, If you only had the ERR light blink, then there was an issue with your file system. If you had ERR/MEM blinking then there was an issue with Network/router. What version of ISY firmware are you running? With kind regards, Michel hmmm. got it working after unplugging/plugging network connection several time, but wish I knew the reason this happensJoe
jkraus Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 just err light blinking. What do you mean by file system error? After plugging and unplugging the network cable several times i is fixed. Please explain Joe
Michel Kohanim Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Hi Joe, You didn't reboot ISY in the process? If so, this is quite odd. The ERR light indicates that there is a file system error. ISY has a file system which is maintained by the framework. If the framework cannot access the file system, then the ERR light keeps blinking. On the other hand, if ISY cannot get a DHCP lease or if it cannot join the local area network, then ERR and MEM blink. That's why it's really odd that it started working by just unplugging and plugging back in the network cable. Please let me know what version of ISY firmware you are running. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel just err light blinking. What do you mean by file system error? After plugging and unplugging the network cable several times i is fixed. Please explain Joe
jkraus Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 to be more specific, I did "reboot" by power cycling (removing PLM connection) AND removing Network connection several times in the effort to fix it, but eventually just the err ligh still blinking, and fixed by plug/unplugging network cable Ver 2.7.5 isy pro
Michel Kohanim Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi Joe, This is QUITE strange. Please do be kind enough to keep an eye on it and let me know if it happens again (as soon as possible). With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 problem back again! upgraded to 2.76 worked fine, but seemed some ofthe features were missing so decided to reboot form the admin consol. Got Red light blinking only, first 3 lights are solid green. Quick, how do I resolve this need the program to woerk!
Michel Kohanim Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Hi jkraus, The problem is with the file system. Unfortunately, you will have to get an RMA (from whomever you purchased the unit from). Another alternative would be to try and replace the SD Card inside. If you so choose to do so, the next steps would be: 1. Use the link on your desktop to launch the admin console 2. Upgrade again to 2.7.6 3. Restore your backup I truly apologize for the inconvenience. jkraus Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 I got it form UDI (refurbished), but before I request RMA, once again after several power cycles I got it working again. Is this indicative of anything? or should I just get it RMA'd
Sub-Routine Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 problem back again! upgraded to 2.76 worked fine, but seemed some ofthe features were missing so decided to reboot form the admin consol. Got Red light blinking only, first 3 lights are solid green. Quick, how do I resolve this need the program to woerk! Hi Joe, There was a bug in 2.7.0 that required multiple reboots to correct an error in the Log file. If you saw this with 2.7.6 we will have to investigate. Next time features seem to be missing, or the clock is wrong, or other visual anomalies appear clearing the Java cache usually corrects these. Sometimes the PC also has to be restarted. Rand
Michel Kohanim Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hi Joe, I am not aware of any bugs in 2.7.6 that would cause this. I am almost certain the problem is your SD Card and I am even more certain that the problem is going to come back. Up to you what you wish to do. Replacement is certainly an option and, if you can't wait, formatting the SD Card and following the previous instructions is also an alternative. With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Michel your comment 1. Use the link on your desktop to launch the admin console 2. Upgrade again to 2.7.6 3. Restore your backup 1) as previously posted I could not get the program to put an icon on the desk to work. I downloaded the program, but i would not launch 2) replacing the SD card is unclear. You mean to open the isy and replace an SD card inside? That all (except as you say to upgrade and download backup)? Joe
Sub-Routine Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hi Joe, We now have a Wiki page to describe the process: ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing_an_SD_Card Rand
jkraus Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Thanks ! What size SD card assuming I get a new one? Does not violate warranty to open up the isy?
jkraus Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 put in a new 1GB SD card, same issue after power supplied blinking red light
jkraus Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 put in orig 512MB card and works fine now even during a reboot. The card may not have been well seated as I think it came out without first pushing it in. Is this "seating" problem indicative of the issue I was seeing? I want to resolve this even though it is working now, so that if the issue comes back? Thx Joe
Michel Kohanim Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hi Joe, yes, seating could surely have the same exact symptoms as you were experiencing. I wonder why the 1G didn't work. With 2.7.6, you should be able to use anything up to 8GB. With kind regards, Michel put in orig 512MB card and works fine now even during a reboot. jkraus Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 did I need to format the 1GB card or anything else special before inserted? I too am wondering I I have a bad isy.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi jkraus, I am so very sorry for not mentioning it before. Yes, you do need to format your SD Card using FAT filesystem (not NTFS). I do apologize for the omission. With kind regards, Michel did I need to format the 1GB card or anything else special before inserted? I too am wondering I I have a bad isy.
