Thanks. Sounds like an extreme exaggeration based on some dislike for Google.

I have never seen a home builder install a smart thermostat costing over $500 (with the extra contractor costs required) here, anyway.

I'm sure there may be a few technology based builders (at least their AV guy would stop using it) that may leave over this due to caring how something works.  However most don't care about that. They put a product in to say they have something vs caring about the consumer end result. 

That's why all these newly built tract homes break down so fast and you have the term builder grade. The products they put in are there so they can say they did something vs giving you quality products
