Can't access Insteon system - swap out the whole thing? - help please!

Hello and please help, Insteon experts!

We have an Insteon system that was installed by our electrician about 5 years ago. It's mostly light switches, with some garage door sensors to control some outside lights. We do have the UD ISY994i, and the Insteon PowerLinc Serial (Dual-Band) #2413S. But we can't figure out how to access the system now. So we're at the point of deciding whether to swap the whole thing out for another system, but we'd rather save the money and hassle and find a way to use what we have.

The system was set up and programmed using a desktop computer that has since died. It's still executing the old programming - most of which still works, some doesn't. Using ISY Finder finds nothing, just a blank screen. This is true while on all of our various sub-networks. I contacted UD tech support over a year ago. After going back and forth a while, he thought that it was a network issue and we should do a factory reset and use a backup to restore it - which we don't have - so we left it.

So now we're stuck, and don't know what can be done. We'd really appreciate any advice on what to do now. Would getting an Insteon hub find and connect everything? As I said, if we can't get this to work we'll have to move to new items that are compatible with ST or such...but we're hoping to avoid that.

TIA!!

If you reset it you'll lose all of your automations and programming, but an ISY can add, keep existing device links, and add linked devices to effectively, "Crawl," your Insteon network to re-add it all.  An Insteon hub won't do that, and has other issues.

The thing is, anything you rip out and replace is going to have a much bigger hurdle, both financial and more importantly in terms of time/effort/services, than keeping the ISY.  And since the ISY is still a current product, it'd be best to keep it and just reset it.

Search your router for the IP address, or the MAC address found on the ISY box IIRC. Then manually install the IP address into the ISY finder.

You will need the credentials for logging into the ISY, possibly admin/admin.
As an alternative you could take the HDD from the old computer and get it cross-loaded into a new drive by a PC repair shop. Then you could factory reset the ISY and restore it from a possible ISY backup file.

Another factor....how one accesses the ISY could depend on what software version it is running.  Do you know?  Did you ever update your ISY software?  What ISY finder did you use?  (It may not apply to the ISY version you are running.)

In this case, I suspect the easiest thing would be to submit a support request ticket to UDI.

One other thing to consider since this system is at least five years old.  Have you changed your internet service provider in that time.  For example if you went from AT&T, which uses the address format of 192.168.x.x to Cable which uses the format of 10.0.x.x, that would explain why your computer cannot find the ISY.  I had exactly that problem when I switched to cable.  Frustrating for awhile!

I dont want to highjack this thread but since we haven't heard from the OP in days...

I just switched my ISP.  I now have AT&T.  I'm having trouble with my ISY communicating with Mobilinc.  I've been working with Wes from Mobilinc, but it's been a very slow process that has yet to be resolved over several days of email.  I'm wondering if it has anything to do with what ronvond mentioned in his post.  BTW, I can log into my ISY's admin console to check/change settings.  I'm just not sure what to look for...

Yes, I would imagine this could be a factor.  I assume your external IP would change with a new service provider.  Depending on how you access your ISY through mobilinc (direct IP address?  Portal?), this could be a factor.

In your mobilinc settings for the lighting controller, what do you have for the secure https?
