Themes | Theme Color not remembered from one reboot to another

For some reason the Universal Devices Administrative Console doesn't remember the Theme Color I've selected after a computer reboot. It remembers the theme color if I exit the console and then re-enter it later (in the same session) but once I've rebooted my computer the theme color is reset back to the default.

I'm running under Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and the default color scheme looks pretty bad (in the left side tree view pane particularly).

Has anyone else seen this problem?

This problem still exists in the latest 5.3.4 ISY994i firmware.

Usually indicates your java environment doesn't have enough memory allocated. It may get reset each time you install a new java update also.

Doesn't the admin console persist its settings to a file somewhere? How do the theme settings survive a system reboot otherwise?

The admin console is a downloaded piece of java software. I don't think it has any setting memory and the settings are kept in the java memory on the local HDD files. This seems to be evidenced by losing the setting upon installing a java update and clearing all caches.

Does the theme selection survive a system reboot on your computer? I can understand storing settings in a cache somewhere but shouldn't the cache persist between reboots?

I have never changed the default theme colours but I have had the font size change on me. However, IIRC,  increasing the java memory  size, allows the font size to be remembered and the admin console to stop hanging at random intervals.

Interesting. I've not had any trouble with the admin console crashing or hanging. It just seems to be unable to retain the theme selection from one boot-up to the next. Any suggestions about how to enlarge the java memory size would be appreciated.

BTW, I am using "Iced Tea Web" to run the admin console under Ubuntu. I know very little about Iced Tea Web other than from what I read here on the forum. As I recall it is needed to support java applications since my web browser of choice (Firefox) no longer supports java applications running in the browser.

Unsure if it's the same under Ubuntu, but @larryllix has screen shots (for Windows) of how to increase the memory. The process is also found in many other posts. Hopefully this is available in your system.

Here's how to increase runtime memory it in Linux (hopefully...was just first hit in a Google search).

 

I run Windows 10 and set the font and find that it resets at random times. It's usually after Window Updates and/or java updates. It's not too difficult to reset. It's not every time, but it is somewhat annoying when it happens. But I only change the font size because on a small laptop screen it's sometime difficult to view. But I don't use admin console often so simple fix and relaunch works for when I need lengthy access.

There's a number of temp files that are created, i'm not sure which does what, or where they are created when running under Ubuntu, but they might be in /tmp which is probably getting cleared when you reboot.

I see the exact same with the font size.  It is very annoying to me.  Sure wish there was a way to make the default another size.
