To many links for PLM - How to lower links?

Hi,

So I have to many links & am running into communications issues where i didnt have any previously.  I have a number of keypads that have keys doing nothing (not part of scenes, linked, etc).

If I have a 8 button keypad & am only using two buttons:  Keypad A, B are used, C,D,E,F,G,H are not doing anything - if i remove C-H will that lower my links by 6?  Additionally, if i have a triggerlinc where I am not using Closed, but only Open, can i remove the closed ones to save links?

Same with motion - if i dont need dusk, dawn - etc & on - Any thoughts on what to do?

Things work working OK, I counted links saw it was at 930, then i did a restore PLM & a lot of stuff that did work doesnt work.

I did upgrade from an older V4 to 5.0.168.  Not sure if that has something to do with it.

Thanks,

Rich

None of what you propose will do anything. You can however use more / less scenes. You can also consider reviewing how your programs integrate with the system. A communication issue can stem from dozens of things and doesn't always point to the PLM. In the WiKi there is a link count generator which gives you a rough idea if you're *Physically* reaching that limit. You may or may not be aware the primary issues with the 2413S PLM is bad capacitors.

So, unless its the most current release it may be that 2413S PLM is simply failing and has nothing to do with link count. Then again if you have specific comm issues so call them out like if a light turns on but doesn't.

This could be a hardware issue, noise maker, signal sucker, etc.

You can't really remove buttons from a kpl from the isy without removing devices. As mentioned, this wouldn't make a big difference anyway.

One thing to look at is how you design your scenes. For example, I don't use controllers in my larger scenes. I add devices to them as responders and then use programs to turn on/off. I also reuse scenes where I can. For example, each room has a scene with everything in it. Whether it's my good night, away, all off, emergency, etc, those scenes are used in them. That allows me to save on links since I'm not creating additional links for stuff I'm already doing.
