Zick Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Is there a way to program devices and/or scenes on a ISY99i when it's off site? I'd like to take the ISY99i & PLM w/ a laptop and program the ISY99i and then be able to take it home plug it into the network and have it upload the changes to all the devices. I've already added all the devices into the ISY99i. I'd tried searching about this but found no answer. Thanks
MikeB Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Hi Zick - No, what you're asking is not possible. Why not leave the ISY where it is, enable remote access, and program the ISY over an internet connection?
Zick Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Hi Mike, Thanks for the info, but the reason I ask is because we have a new house we are building that not finished yet and not living there and we don't have internet hooked up either. So in my spare time after work I have to drive down to the house, hook everything up and program all the devices which can take all night. I was hoping in my spare time at work I could get a few things setup and then have it upload the info when I got home. Thanks again
MikeB Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I see, makes sense. You could certainly work on your ISY Programs, but I suspect most of the work you want to do is scene creation - which would not work.
Cartwrig Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Bit expensive; but, you could get a "3G Cellular Router" and insert a 3G PCMCIA or 3G USB Dongle from a cellular company, using their data service. That way your house would have internet connectivity. Might even find this solution useful AFTER you move in as backup for your phone lines, and or security system. Frys.com has the routers. Contractors would love you too; as, they could all have WIFI access while on the premises for instant look-ups of instructions, etc. - Rob
Zick Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks for the thought cartwrig but we've just moved into our house a few weeks ago so I no longer need to do this. But I do still think it would be nice to have this option.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Hi Zick, We do have a requirement for batch processing which is in alignment with what you are suggesting. Unfortunately it has a very low priority mostly due to low number of requests. With kind regards, Michel
