Scene / Linking Question (multi-way circuits)

Using an ISY 994i/IR PRO on v5.0.16c.

This is in regards to 3 and 4 way circuits using dimmers (Insteon 2477).

It's been about a year since I last looked at the Admin Console. Just upgraded from 4.7.3 to the v5.0.16c (RC1). I don't know if something is different, or if I just never understood this in the first place. But I'm not getting this to work the way I'm expecting.

(1) I create a scene, then (2) add each dimmer, (3) setting each as a controller. But then, there is this Wiki, for the 99i that mentions some options that are also in the User Guide, that I swear I'm just not seeing in my Admin Console. Like, steps 4 and 5, all the stuff on page 20 in the guide.

Can I just ask, what is the proper method for creating a scene with a multi-way (3 way, 4 way, etc.) circuit?

Should the scene, itself, be able to dim? Not just be an On/Off switch?

How come when I turn one member of the scene on (or off) (or dim) it does not reflect in the linked switch?

Thanks!

Yes, a scene should be able to dim.  When you look at the scene, you should seen a bunch of buttons at the bottom.

Be sure the window is wide/tall enough to see them.

For this, where are you turning the device on/off/dim/brighten?

If you are doing the DEVICE from the Admin Console, ONLY that device will change.  That's how it has always been.

If you want to turn on/off/dim/brighten the SCENE, you must do so from the scene itself.

1. When turning lights on or off, or dimming, the switch itself, they work as expected.

2. Yes, my issue is when doing the same from the device within admin console. But, looks like this is as expected.

3. So, my real issue is with using this type of scene in Homebridge-ISY (see my link in sig). It exposes the devices as they are in ISY.

    (1) if you turn one switch on, it doesn't turn the other on, or match the dimming state, etc. AND..

    (2) if I add the scene to Homebridge-ISY, it works only as an On/Off switch, not as a dimmer even if all the devices within the scene are dimmers.

    (3) I can get around this somewhat by grouping the individual devices within HomeKit. That does allow control of the whole scene, with dimming, but since it's HomeKit coordinating everything, it's laggy as heck, and thus undesirable (i.e. low WAF).

4. Thus, if I have ISY set up appropriately, then my next step is working with the Homebridge-ISY author to see if this is can be changed, or maybe I'm not configuring something correctly there.

5. Can I give one more request for native Apple HomeKit support??

Thanks!

Unless apple changes requirements for commercial hubs that won't happen

Yes, I know. Long debate. Despite the fact that Apple removed the requirement for on-board authentication chip, etc., etc... so this isn't even a debate anymore.. hence why you can do the same thing with a $25 raspberry pi in the middle, but requires a LOT of baby-sitting that I'd LOVE to just pay someone for the feature... but what I do know, I'm just a user who doesn't really understand any of this...

Except they released it for hobbyists and NOT commercial use. UDI doing something with their hub would be considered commercial which has a different set of requirements.
