I do not use uPNP on my network because it's chatty waste of bandwidth that fills my firewall logs with messages (I have several subnets, some of which are firewalled from my main LAN that the ISY resides on). I am running version 2.7.6 on an ISY99i Pro. Thanks, Rick

The only issue is that currently that's the only way clients (such as Interface Go, iLinc, mControl, IES touch screens) can find where ISY is. It would, however, be nice to have the ability to disable it after the ISY has been discovered. I'm assuming UPnP is only used for the initial discovery of the ISY. I'm also assuming the IP address of the ISY is then used for any further communication. I appreciate the fact that I may be an odd case, but I transfer a lot of large files wirelessly using my laptop. So any broadcasts that I can eliminate from my wireless network will only help improve my transfer rates. Sure, I could firewall the UPnP ports from my wireless side, but to me, it's much cleaner to just disable it all together! Thanks again! PS - I love my ISY. It just works!

This said, however, in cases where ISY is not assigned a static IP address, it's also used to broadcast IP changes so you would not have to know exactly what IP address your ISY has. In 2.7.7 and above (still alpha), we'll use the legacy NetBIOS over TCP to enable communicating with isy using http://isy ... but this will not work with more than one ISY on the network. Furthermore, some new computers may not have NetBIOS/TCP enabled. In any case, disabling UPnP is something that should be included in ISY. With kind regards, Michel Michel, Thanks for the reply.
