fahrer16 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I recently had a huge problem with my ISY not responding. It would take ages to log into the admin console, if it would let me in at all, the ISY wouldn't connect to the portal, and was generating a ton of errors related to not being able to read files from the SD card. I spent a day frantically troubleshooting, which included turning off everything I could think of that communicates with the ISY: Home Assistant, Polisy, and blocking internet access so the portal and polyglot cloud couldn't talk to it. Without luck on that front, I then replaced the SD card and restored from backup. Everything worked, I was thrilled that I thought I found the problem until I put the ISY's password back to what it was before the new SD card. Same problem, dead in the water. Since I'm posting this in a Roomie Remote thread, you might have guessed the cause turned out to be related to Roomie Remote. I then realized I had recently turned on an iPad I had sitting around that had Roomie Remote installed. I turned off that iPad and everything started working again. I put the old SD card back into my ISY, rebooted everything else so my ISY was working normally again, then turned on that iPad again... dead in the water. I uninstalled Roomie Remote and haven't had a problem since. It's a shame, I think Roomie Remote is a pretty slick app, no idea what happened there. I wanted to post my experience in case someone else runs into the same issue. 1 Quote

I just happened upon your post and this is very interesting becasue I had a very similar issue that @Michel Kohanim and company spent a LOT of time helping me trouble shoot. AND I do run Roomie remote. Ultimately we actually replaced my ISY becasue, after ruling out everything we could rule out, we assumed the box itself had failed in some way. And that actually did solve the problem but it's very interesting how similar our experiences were. Were you running the Polisy Roomie Remote nodeserver? Or was Roomie just running in your environment but not connected to your ISY? Also, roughly how old is your ISY? Quote
fahrer16 Posted August 13, 2020 Author Posted August 13, 2020 @bcdavis75, I wasn't running the roomie remote/simple control nodeserver but I did have roomie remote connected to my ISY from the app itself. My ISY is pretty new, right about a year old now. Quote
wintermute Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 Interesting! I've also been having odd connectivity issues with an ISY on a network using Roomie Remote 6.5--- sounds very similar to your experience. What seems to have finally worked for me was to remove the ISY as a device in Roomie Remote and instead run HomeBridge on a local machine to expose all the ISY lights and some scenes as HomeKit devices. This appears to have eliminated the communication issues. I am also running HomeAssistant with the HomeKit bridge on another Roomie+ISY network and it appears to work fine as well. So it appears Roomie is doing something odd when it tries to communicate directly with the ISY under some circumstances. Let us know if you discover anything else or can confirm or dispute other findings. Thanks for posting! 1 Quote
