Why does the ISY refuse to add a device to scene

Featured Replies

I added a Control Linc and I believe asked it to keep the scenes in it. But it came up blank, no problem, I'll add a scene. But when adding the lamp to the scene, I got an error -200000 Failed to add device to scene. Why?

You are trying to add a device to a scene in the ControLinc using ISY?

Yes, I already have two scenes in the ISY that use the Control Linc's keys.

[scene name]

linc1:key1

master bedroom:side lights

The LampLinc that the side lights are connected to are what is giving me the error.

The error message data in the wiki.

Indicates a -200000 is a driver error.

Sounds like someone from UDI may have to give you more assistance.

Hi,

The error is related to the fact that ISY cannot communicate with one of the devices. Please note that when you add a responder to a scene that has a controller, all controllers in the scene have to be able to respond to INSTEON commands. So, if you have any controllers that have communications problems, then that would explain the issue.

With kind regards,

Michel

I assume the lamp is controlled with a plug-in module?

My experience is exactly as described by the others. Communication problems cause errors when adding devices to scenes. To confirm, you may wish to try moving the newly-introduced lamp module to a different location. I suggest a location close to the access point you are using. Once there, try again to add it to a scene. Hopefully, you will find that the ISY can now add the device to the scene. If so, you have almost certainly identified communication as your problem. Then you get to enjoy identifying the culprit(s) behing your communication problems.
