Ken Gaspard Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Looking for a Outdoor gate sensor for a child day care. There is no power at the gate. This is to make sure no kid escapes out the gate. I already orderd isy994i/zw +ir pro. Thx
TrojanHorse Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 If the need is really to make sure no kid escapes, I’d suggest a lock. A z wave sensor may fail to send a signal. Even if it sends the signal and ISY receives it, then what? ISY is great but it won’t go grab the kid and bring him back safely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While HA could work, there are multiple variables at play which could potentially cause the system to fail. While more expensive, its better to have it done right vs a child gets out, no one is notified, and something happens. Should the worse happen, itll be cheaper too

While working in high-tension stations we had decided we need to lock the gates to keep stray people from wandering in while we were not looking. Problem then was emergency rescue crews would be locked out. The end solution was break away chain used while inside. The emergency trucks could hit the gate and break the weak chain. The usual thing for kids is a high gate they cannot reach over to unlatch the gate latch. A secondary electronic system may work. CAO Tags would be the easiest.
