Device Communications Error after power loss.

Featured Replies

Posted

Today I had a power loss for a few minutes and I got a strange error next time I accessed My Lighting Administration Console.

"Device Communications Error RemoteKinc 2 Button #1 (A 39 91 1). Please Check Connections. "

In the My Lighting the RemoteLinc #2 Button 1 has a RED ! on it. If I push the button on or off the RED ! goes away and the error no longer happens in the Administration Console. I can also get the same error if I use the RESET ISY box.

Firmware 2.7.6

Hi Brian,

Very strange. Do you still have the problem now? i.e. does it show the red ! after you clicked on the button?

The only time (theoretically) that you would get a ! on a RemoteLinc while not in programming is if it sends out a NACK. I can't see how that would be the case here.

With kind regards,

Michel

Well if anyone can get a strange problem it is me.

After a power loss or a Reboot. The error happens every time I open My Lighting. The RemoteLinc 2 Button 1 icon is a red !. After I push that button on the RemoteLinc. The error goes away and the red icon changes to what looks like a tiny remote with six LEDs on it.

Opening My Lighting from then on does not flag that error; until I do a Reboot as a test. Then it is back.

Hi Brian,

Thanks. Would you be kind enough to remove the batteries from your RL and then do a reboot on your ISY? This way, we'll be able to figure out if the problem is RL related or ISY/PLM related.

Also, how often do you have you to change the battery on your RL?

With kind regards,

Michel

Reboot with no batteries in RemoteLinc 2. Same error.

First time after reboot The My Lighting display may show no module status and the Log in and password box may reappear; with the password and user name in the box already. Then the status shows.

I have two RemoteLincs and in My Lighting after a reboot; I click on one of the twelve buttons it shows no current state for last command from that button; as I would expect. As long as RemoteLinc 2 Button one has no current state received in its box. The error happens. An on or off from that button; so the box shows a last current state of on or off and there is no error. The other eleven buttons current state boxes can be blank as no commands where received since reboot with no problems.

RemoteLincs batteries are original and a battery tester says each are about 1.47 volts. Will change them anyway.

Hi Brian,

Thanks SO very much. Based on your description, I was able to reproduce this issue and thus it's now a bug. I am hoping that it'll be fixed in 2.7.7.

Thanks again and with kind regards,

Michel

Glad you found it.

I got mine corrected. Well in a round about way.

Used my last ISY Backup and then I was getting four modules with the error and both RemoteLincs where fine.

Manually clicked on each with a red! and then turned it off.

Backed up the ISY and then did a restore from that backup file. The latest backup showed no errors after I cycled the power or a reboot. I was clearing the Java Cache as a precaution each time I made any restores or backups.

Hi Brian,

I am so very sorry you had to go through this. I should have mentioned the workaround: rename your node.

I do apologize.

With kind regards,

Michel
