timholmesjr Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I recently installed a Yale Assure keypad/handle lock (YRL256-NR-619) added the Zwave module (AYR202-ZW-USA). The lock connected and can be controlled by the ISY/Alexa etc. I did notice last night that the status is intermittent. I got the "ISY can't communicate with ....." error. I also have this on a couple of my Zwave devices. They are still able to be controlled, but they don't update status (even when queried). The status changes when a command is sent, but not when I am just looking to verify the device. Is this a known issue, software compatibility, zwave protocol? With my outdoor lights this is an inconvenience, with the lock it is more problematic. Thoughts?
lilyoyo1 Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) Most likely you have a weak mesh Network. You probably need repeaters What are you other devices, isy firmware, and UI? Edited November 2, 2020 by lilyoyo1
timholmesjr Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) I have a fair amount of Zwave devices (I am a Vera convert). I would have anticipated the mesh network to be somewhat strong, but I have also been converting to Insteon primarily due to its ability to register instant status changes. I may have unintentionally weakened the network. ISY Firmware - 5.0.16C UI - 5.0.16C Product ISY 994i/IR Pro What repeaters have been successful? I have a love/hate with Aeotec, but when their stuff works its pretty good. They have a Range Extender. Any suggestions? Edited November 2, 2020 by timholmesjr punctuation
lilyoyo1 Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Are all of your devices added to the isy? I'm assuming you have hardwired devices close to your locks that support beaming. Aeotec makes really good repeaters but I prefer using other hardwired devices that allow me to control other things such as outlets made by GE or Cooper

I have a GE switch right by the lock, but it may be an older one and it could suffer the same problem if it is a range issue. These two are the farthest from the hub. The outside lights on the other hand are only 20 ft or so, but it is on the other side of the exterior brick....

If it doesn't it would not help with the lock which could be contributing to the issues you're having
gzahar Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I found putting a repeating device a few feet from my ISY really helped my network communications.
