Long time user of ISY and Insteon.  Have had a very stable set up.  Built a new WIN 10 PC and trying to install Admin Console.  Java installed.  I get a brief flash of a app or dialog box, but no icon on the desktop.  Multiple attempts.  Cleared Java Cache.  Thoughts?

Thanks,

That sounds like what happens to me once in a while and the fix is in their wiki; you have to delete some files to get it working again. give it a shot.

Really appreciate the response.  I've delved into the Wiki, can you be any more directive on where to look?

Thanks !

That Wiki is a little unclear.  It suggests pointing the AVSAWS file to itself.  But, when I right click I don't get an "open with" option as the wiki suggests.  The broken extension makes sense, but this approach is not working.

I would suggest starting with Java as follows:

Admin Console icon does not appear on the desktop

  • Close all your browsers
  • Go to System Preferences | Java to get to Java Control Panel
  • Click on Delete Files and make sure you check Applications
  • Click on the Settings Button
  • Make sure Keep temporary files on my computer is checked
  • Copy the directory under Location
  • Open up Finder and delete the above directory under Location
  • Close Java Control Panel
  • Open a browser and retry the Admin Console (JNLP) URL

If that doesn't correct all the issues, try:

Java applications are blocked by your security settings

  • Close all your browsers
  • Go to System Preferences | Java to get to Java Control Panel
  • Click on Delete Files and make sure you check Applications
  • Click on the Settings Button
  • Make sure Keep temporary files on my computer is checked
  • Click on the Security tab on the top
  • Click on Restore Security Prompts and then click on Restore All button on the ensuing dialog
  • Click on the Edit Site List
  • Click on the Add button
  • Enter https://isy.universal-devices.com followed by hitting the Return key on the keyboard. Accept the warning
  • Click on the OK button

Followed by:

admin.jnlp does not start the Admin Console

  • If Java is indeed installed, the reason is that .jnlp file association is broken (it has to point to javaws.exe). Search for javaws.exe in the computer. Right mouse click and select "Open with" and point to "javaws.exe" to fix the .jnlp file association.

Then:

Admin Console Closes Automatically

This is usually related to firewall software on your computer and especially with AVAST or AVG (including MAC). Two solutions:

I hope some of this helps. If not, you can certainly open a ticket with UD. They are excellent and providing assistance.

Yep, tried those steps earlier and again just now.  Now the flash of a window lasts a millisecond longer, but still no Icon and no access to the console.  Appreciate the help.  I'll reach out to UD
