my hard-drive crashed and i had to start over with a new drive and a new version of windows 10.   I downloaded Java and followed instructions here:

pdf setup guide

when I get to clicking the link for the ...start.jnlp I have problems.  no desktop app is created.  when I create one, it is an internet explorer link like this:

and when i click it, it does this:

and when I click "open" it does nothing.  any suggestions?

no luck trying these things.  by the way, I can access my isy using the "isy Launcher" from my other computers.  it is just this one that is troubled.  any other suggestions?

I had this same issue when I jumped to Windows 10.

You need to install Java for Windows before any of those instructions work.

PROBLEM SOLUTION HERE:

Had this issue with an associate at my company. The problem was that the .jnlp application was only trying to open in IE instead of the Javaws aplication.

What I did was right click on the file > Open with > Browse > C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_221\bin\javaws

I also marked a check by the box that said set this as default app. The issue no longer affects us

this was what the problem was.  I fixed it using the above.  just posting it to help anyone else that might have the same problem.
