tech_dog Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I'm actually not a new user, have been using a ISY994 for about 8 years without problems. I always used IE to run the Java and I think my problem may be a missing or blocking PC config of some sort. I'm now trying to run the stand alone java. Errors include: telnet access works , but when I enable internet access I get "Could not configure the gateway." ISY Finder finds my ISYs. I have one brand new that came with firmware 4.8.0 and my previous unit I upgraded to 5.3, both having the same problem. ISY Dashboard gives errors "I/O Error: ProxyDevice" and "Socket Open Failed java.io.IOException: an Existing Connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" ISY Admin Console fails immediately after authentication, flashing an error I can't catch. What I've validated: I'm running Java 8 update 271 I've shut down all virus software I've reinstalled java repeatedly and cleared caches repeatedly I upgraded the firmware of my old 994, did a factory reset, did a storage reformat, all seemed to have no impact. The problem started on my 994 with 4.7.1. I upgraded to 5.3, same problem. I bought a new unit with 4.8. Same problem. Other Considerations The router is an Orbi, fairly new. I think I've used the 994 Admin console since that change, not 100% sure. I've tested on a PC with Windows 10 and Windows 7, same results. At this point I'm just trying to connect to the admin console. Both 994s are empty, no configuration restores. Any ideas? I'm very used to all this stuff working without issues.

It is best if you access ISY using the Launcher and not a web browser. You should also make sure your firmware and UI match. When using the Launcher your UI will automatically be matched to your firmware. To use the Launcher go to the upgrade post and find the download link for the Launcher.

tech_dog Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 OK... I'm not quite ready to call this over, but I believe I've got this figured out. I had a huge range of bizarre symptoms, some listed in the original post, and they all seem to have been resolved by removing an old network bridge. My current guess is that this UI is the most sensitive thing on my network and the old bridge was losing packets. Since removing and replacing the old bridge everything seems to be working fine. I'm in the process of recovering and updating my PLM.
HABit Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 FWIW: I have had network latency problems with Orbi's. I have a backhaul system setup with the Orbi's and got them to overcome Wifi weak areas in the house. The latency wrecks havoc on the Web Socket subscription - you get disconnects for Admin Console and Polyglot/Node Servers. Be sure the Orbi firmware is updated, especially for the satellites.
