Take a look at the Ring cameras. I believe that there's a Ring node server for ring.

 

There is a Ring nodeserver in the Polyglot Cloud, so no additional hardware is needed, just a UDI Portal account.  The nodeserver gives you programmatic access to battery levels and motion detection, so it's fairly minimal.  It seems quite reliable, however, and the quality of the cameras seems very good.  They're on their second winter here, and are having no issues.  If you place them in a location where there's direct sunlight, there's an optional solar charger that's available.  I get approx. a month of use between battery charges.
