Zwave conversion question

I just received and installed the 500 series zwave controller and upgraded to 5.3. I'm currently converting everything I have to Zwave. I noticed when I add a simple GE zwave dimmer switch to the ISY it creates 3 separate devices. It adds the switch itself and then "Basic Scene Ctl 2 and basic scene Ctl 3". What is the purpose of these extra items? Do I need them or can I remove them from the ISY?

They can be removed. You'll see different nodes pop up from time to time that can be deleted

Thanks, but just curious what is their purpose?

Nothing. Zwave has a lot of underlying stuff built into that manufacturers of different devices can take advantage of. Most don't but it's still there.

As often happens, I learned something from @lilyoyo1 :-)  This being said, I put my "unknown" nodes in a separate folder for just in  case.

I'm not sure about GE, but for Homeseer dimmers the scene nodes are for detecting multitap up/down. Might be the same for GE.

There's no double tap features built into GE switches
