rock6112hill Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Pretty sure the above is a distance issue that I have tried to resolve by adding two Aeotec Smart Switch 6 plugs (no USB version). Note that my ISY is fully up to date and new enough to have the correct zWave board build in. The ISY and the thermostat are nearly at opposite ends of the house - so I was hoping that the two added switches would extend the zWave mesh and allow the ISY to "see" it (but, it never does). So, my next option is to move the ISY and, since it has the portal module installed, I think I am safe in doing so. All of my other devices are Insteon and the ISY communicates with an Insteon 2413S, which would move with the ISY. The location I intend to move to will place the ISY at the center of the house (within 10 feet of the thermostat on the other side of a wall) and internet will be provided through the ethernet port of a Netgear Orbi mesh satellite (the Orbi mesh primary is configured as an AP off my router and the ISY is currently connected directly to the router). Given all the above ... are there any items that I need to watch for, or be aware of? I am concerned about the following: Moving the ISY from the main router to the ethernet port on the Orbi satellite. Moving the PLM from it's current location to a new plug; will the ISY still be able to "find" everything or is there a procedure to use for "relocation"? I did a fairly thorough search before posting this .... if it's a duplicate, I apologize. Thank you in advance ........ Ann
rock6112hill Posted January 24, 2021 Author Posted January 24, 2021 I should add ... nearly all my switches are Insteon 2466Sw and 2466DW; I believe this means they DO NOT have a "wifi" backup for communication.
lilyoyo1 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Insteon uses RF not wifi. Your modules are Powerline only so moving your isy can potentially change things though I doubt it will as long as your phases are properly bridged. The only way to know however is to try.
