brad77 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Since I just RMA'd my IRLinc Transmitter, I'm looking at alternatives for sending IR using the ISY. In looking at the Global Cache GC-100, I noticed that the IR ports double as "sense" ports. The idea is that you can plug these ports into audio/video outputs on your A/V equipment to determine whether that devices is "on." This could be very useful. For instance, if you turn your TV on, the ISY could know that it is on and send an IR command to your A/V receiver that is locked in a cabinet somewhere. You could also configure macros to raise/lower a screen when a projector is turned on. I know that you can send IR commands to the GC-100, but that's a one way street. Any thoughts on implementing this as a module a-la your Elk integration so that you could have more direct interaction? The ISY could open a port to the device and monitor it for such events.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi brad77, We do have plans for bi directional communications with network appliances. We just haven't gotten to the design yet as it encompasses to many different schemes, protocols, and standards. Quixote Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Please add my name to the list of people interested in communication with the Global Cache GC-100. I posted in another thread before finding this one, but I think that maybe I should have posted here instead. Thanks.
