tome Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I would like to have multiple user accounts on the ISY with different privilege levels. The crux of this is that I would like to create an account or two for my family, but don't want them to have full access to the ISY. I just want to present a list of specific devices, scenes or programs to these accounts that they can control. Tome
tahoe Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I have the same wish, but through the interface software packages out there. It would be nice to give access to each device, by user. Example: let the kids control their lights but not the master bedroom lights or the t-stats.

If we had multiple access levels on the ISY we would get the functionality in the software packages for free in some cases and nearly free in others. For example iLinc (on the iPhone) already gives me multiple profiles. I could set up a profile for, say my wife, that logged into her account on the ISY and only had access to a limited set of device, etc. Tome

You simply 'delete' the devices you don't want displayed on her interface by swiping your finger across unwanted devices and clicking delete. The setting persists only on that device, without affecting the actual device in the ISY or other iPod Touch/iPhone devices also running iLinc.

Do the items stay "deleted" even after a re-sync with the isy? The reason I ask is that if you move around, say from wifi to 3g, you are sometimes asked to go to settings and "sync with isy". Tome

You shouldn't need to re-sync in that circumstance. If you quit the app and restart, does that get you past the error? Another option is Favorites. Even if you re-sync, Favorites choices persist.

If you quit the app and restart, does that get you past the error? I added some new devices today, I think that is why it wanted me to resync (not due to network change) now that I think about it. So, if I add devices she will have to resync too and then (I assume) all the device will re-appear. Workable, but not ideal. Another option is Favorites. Even if you re-sync, Favorites choices persist. Yeah, could use favoites. Good suggestions for a bandaid. A "fix" would be nice though
Michel Kohanim Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Hi tome, It's becoming quite trite and predictable my repetitions of "it's on our list" ... the fact of the matter is that we have hundreds of our requirements on our list and only 24 hours in the day! Rest assured, it's on our list! With kind regards, Michel

Michel Kohanim Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Hi Tome, that would be very difficult With kind regards, Michel
