Linking to ISY and and SwitchLinc

Featured Replies

I'm still getting familiar with the ISY-99 and Insteon, so bare with me. Quoting Michael from a different post:

BEGIN QUOTE

"........If you already have all your devices linked in ISY, then you would NEVER EVER need to use the paddle press/set button on any of the linked Insteon devices unless you wish to reset them......"

END QUOTE

So if I have a RemoteLinc, does this mean I should never link it directly to something link a Switchlinc, and instead link my RemoteLinc to an object (i.e. Scene) in the ISY...or am I mis-interpreting his statement.

Thanks.

If ISY doesn't do the linking for you. It will not know your system completely and may have incorrect status of RemoteLinc changes.

Both of my RemoteLincs where linked through my ISY99i. Buttons to scenes.

Have you had a chance to down load the users manual?

Thanks for the response....so I'll link all my controllers to the ISY and go from there.

Just out of curiosity, can a Insteon responder be linked to more than one controller (i.e., two different RemoteLincs controlling the same Switchlinc). That seems to be a very basic concept that I haven't grasped yet.

I've gone through the user's guide, but just got hung up on this point for some reasone.
