backinthelab Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I'm having some issues with the Elk's status and tasks in regard to ISY communications. Here is a list of the problems I'm seeing: - Only (3) scenes are displaying on RM control (have over 10 scences), no individual devices are displaying. - Tasks do not operate Insteon devices. IE, I created a rule to turn on the kitchen light when "F4" on the keypad was activated. Nothing. - Lastly, the lighting status on the keypad is incorrect for most devices. I've verified on the ISY that the "Elk" bar displays and will function (not using port 2601). I've made sure that I was disconnected from the XEP before testing. Other tasks/rules function fine so long as they don't involve any Insteon devices or the ISY. Any ideas?
Michel Kohanim Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hi backinthelab, How many devices/scenes do you have altogether? Would you please verify that when you import the ELK export file, that all the nodes/scenes are listed in your ELK RP? And, then, would you check the option flag is checked? With kind regards, Michel I'm having some issues with the Elk's status and tasks in regard to ISY communications. backinthelab Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 I currently have (19) devices and (11) scenes. All devices/scenes are listed in RP and have the "Opt" box checked.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hello backinthelab, If they are all listed in the ELKRP lighting and the opt is checked, then it is quite strange that they are not listed in the keypad/touch screen. Are they listed in ELK's remote console? If not, then - and unfortunately so - we will have to bring in ELK's tech support. Perhaps they can shed some light on this. With kind regards, Michel
backinthelab Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Yes, it is quite odd. Everything shows up in ElkRP, three scenes in the RM module, and all devices show on the physical keypad but the status' are all off. Rules/tasks don't work at all to control lighting. I've tried a bunch of different scenerios. I've already posted this on the M1 Dealer forum so I hope to hear something soon over there.
backinthelab Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Well, I couldn't (didn't want to) wait for a response on the Elk forum so I worked on this myself and finally got it to work. My first issue was my own fault. I didn't realize that clicking the "show" field in the RP application was a must to see the devices in the RM panel. So, that was an easy one. Even after I did "show" all of the applicable devices, however, the task I created on the F4 button wouldn't work and the Elk wouldn't update with a current status of any of my Insteon devices. So, I power-cycled the ISY, cleared all of the devices from ElkRP, and pushed the cleared status to the system. I then exported a new xml file from the ISY and imported it back into the system. Viola, everything works! I'm not sure where the issue started or for what reason, I just know that the above procedure seemed to fix it.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Hello backinthelab, Thanks so very much for the update and I am so very sorry we could not figure this out. I appreciate it. With kind regards, Michel
