j.rieff Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I may have missed something from other posts or announcements. I tend to access the forum when something "goes wrong." Up to now (relatively speaking), everything has been working find with my ISY944i. I have been able to use the Admin Console using my PC or access the ISY directly via its static IP address. Up until now, I have also been able to access the ISP via Simple Home Controller and Agave apps on my Android phone when I have been away from the home network. Sometime during the summer (maybe earlier - remember I ten to take things for granted when everything is working as expected) my access via the apps discontinued to work. Nothing has changed in my ISY configuration. I did finally upgrade my Android phone to a 5G capable device. For the past few months, I have been working with the developer of the Simple Home Controller app to troubleshoot the problem. Nothing has worked. I have a DNS through No-IP dot COM. The IP address that assigned through that service does see my router correctly. Yes - the ISY is plugged correctly into the home network. Not sure if I missed something in the forums that changed the way ISY is made accessible to the Internet. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Have fun today.

Not sure if I missed something in the forums that changed the way ISY is made accessible to the Internet. Quick question to start - did you change your router at all during the summer? Since you're using DDNS it's pointing you to the IP your ISP gives you. You then need to open up a port on your home router to direct to the ISY (Video for setup port forwarding: https://youtu.be/VV7u771uX7E) However, as some will suggest this does open up your network to outside access so make sure you have a strong password and don't use the typical default ports. You'll need to remember the ports you use an use that in your setup. The current recommended method (and more secure method) would be if you have ISY Portal (https://my.isy.io/index.htm). With the ISY Portal you can use the URL found in the portal to access the ISY remotely. Some help from the wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Admin_Console Looks like Agave is simple to connect through the ISY Portal - https://www.agaveha.com/docs/connect-to-udi-portal/ Good luck! Hope this helps easily. 1
j.rieff Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Nothing has changed with respect to the router. I have 2 ports setup in the router for this purpose and they are linked correctly in the ISY. This is why it is so confusing. Nothing has changed from a setup standpoint other than I obtained a new phone over the summer. Now, I do remember reading something about ISY Portal earlier in the year. I do not have the ISY portal setup right now. Maybe I need to go back to reread that email. That could be the solution. It's so much safer and easier to setup. in 2012 I'd still open ports, in 2021 I'd definitely prefer that there is a solution that didn't requite open ports-- for the ISY that solution is the portal, and UDI charges less than $1/month... you can't go wrong.
j.rieff Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Is there any documentation I need to read? I did setup the account. It is now waiting for owner approval. Not sure who is the owner other than me.

Not sure who is the owner other than me. Not sure what you're seeing. I'm going to guess tho.... After entering the UUID of the ISY in the portal interface at https://my.isy.io then you would need to approve the connection via the admin console. TO do that open the admin console and go to the Configuration tab, if you see a "portals" tab go there and click Approve. If you don't see the "portals" sub-tab go to Help > Purchase Modules and choose the Portal. Note: UDI's website that opens during the purchase option is weird, you might have to select Purchase Modules again after logging into UDI's website. You may also need to click "My Products" left center of the screen. (Don't click "Store" at the top of the page--that's for hardware.) After the module has been added then you must go to the Configuration > Portals tab and approve the connection. Edited November 28, 2021 by MrBill 1
j.rieff Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 Thanks for the update. I found the portal tab and completed the approval. Everything appears to be OK. The earlier post mentioned to use the URL found in the portal to access the ISY remotely. In the Portal window under the Tab you are described there is no URL. However, under About there is an Internet Access URL. Is that the one I should use?
MrBill Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 on https://my.isy.io/ Select Tool > Information > ISY Information. When that URL is used your portal credentials must also be used.
