We have 3 fanlinc's installed and there is one room that exhibits strange sound for 1 second when the light is turned on or off by the KPL AND the fan is running at low.   If the fan is running a high, med, or off the "wum" sound does not happen

The fan's on level for low is set to low.

Any ideas?

I'd try a different bulb.  What's different about the lights between where it happens and where it doesn't.

When I mention different bulb I mean different brand or style, not a second bulb exactly like the first bulb or bulbs.

@MrBill So your thinking when the fan is running at low speed and the light is turned on or off, there is something unique with these bulbs that may be causing the hum issue to the fan motor?  I will look for alternative bulbs to try

@tomas21 Specifically cheap off brand LED bulbs often have cheap power supplies.

After learning the lesson, I pretty much try to stick with Philips Warm Glow bulbs (or Phillips Hue in a few cases) for anything and everything.  If Phillips isn't avaialble in that size style.. i stay away from off branded bulbs, including Feit from Costco.

Thanks... these are Cree bulbs but I will see about finding some Phillips models to try out.

yep... they change color (warmer) as the dim.  they resemble a dimming incandescent bulb color wise.  they generally are available in all shapes and sizes.

Update:

Existing setup: Hunter fan / light combo had GU24 bulb types
Installed was 2 CREE Led bulbs that had a E26 to GU24 adapter

Fix: I removed the CREE LED bulbs with GU24 adapter and installed FEIT LED bulbs that were GU24 native.  No hum with low fan speed when turning light on and off

I may buy the Philips warm bulbs to try in the GU24 adapters to see if that does it to determine if it is the Cree bulbs or maybe the GU24 adapter

Feit bulbs have gotten better in recent years... but at one point some caused electrical noise that blocked Insteon.

I have never had problems with bulbs if they are dimmer capable. It was always the non-dimmable types that caused me problems. I always figured the power supplies are not capable of filtering as well in a non-dimmable type.

I had some problems with early Cree bulbs and Canadian Home Depot went from almost all Cree, at the beginning, to dumping them. When I return a few under warranty, the sales clerk told me they had a lot of returns on Cree bulbs until they dumped the brand.  Then the sales clerk, told me to just pick one and leave the store without paperwork. Turned out the dimming curve doesn't match the other four bulbs in the chandelier.
Good enough for now and I don;t notice it any more. Those four + one bulbs have worked well for the last 5-6 years now.

I have a very similiar story about BR-40 bulbs from Feit, I bought at Costco years ago. When I had to buy four at a time, I had to return all four to get just one new one...but I got money back as they were now cheaper for four bulbs. Those bulbs operate at skin burning temperatures, as I found out when I returned the blinking one. Placed in a ceiling full of insulation the heat has no place to go. Burning the crap out of my hand and having to throw it onto a couch, and then run to save the leather couch from burns, surprised the heck out of me.
