leonpc Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 (edited) I am using v5.3.4 of the admin console. I have been adding a few dimmers to my existing system that was running fine. On Friday I noticed that one of the new sets of switches did not work as expected. (A 3-way with one controlling load setup using scenes) I did some troubleshooting and could not get it to work. I decided to delete the 2nd switch and relink it to ISY. I reset the switch to factory default and then put it in to linking mode. In the Admin Console I then opened "Start Linking". It never found the switch. After about 5 minutes I stopped the searching on the Admin Console and reset the switch again. I then opened "Start Linking" on the Admin Console. It gave me an error and said "Looking for devices" and it immediately displayed the Linking... messages. This has now been running for two days. I have looked and there was one other topic that described something similar. It never really mentioned what fixed the issue but said that it worked fine if the Admin Console was started using IsyFinder instead of loading it using admin.jnlp. It also mentioned clearing the java cache. This morning I have closed the Admin Console and cleared the cache and tried to start it using both IsyFinder and admin.jnlp and still see the linking loop. From Polyglot I have restarted ISY and reconnected the admin console and the "Linking..." window opened up immediately. I have opened the event viewer at level 3 and the only traffic I can see is the normal zwave traffic but nothing else. I have looked at the list of devices in the ISY Console and none show in writing mode (green 1011) Unfortunately while this is going on I cannot do anything else. Any ideas would be appreciate Any ideas would be appreciated. Edited January 23, 2022 by leonpc updated information
Javi Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Please try the following. Temporarily change the the IP address to something invalid for ISY from all instances of polyglot and save. There may be too many network requests coming from polyglot, so we don't want it communicating with ISY/ISY-Service. Try to link. If that doesn't work, reboot ISY and try again. When finished fix IP address and save
leonpc Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 Thanks I tried what you recommended and it still did not work. After rebooting ISY and opening the admin console I still get the same behavior but now the error message in in triplicate.

leonpc Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 I am trying to link an Insteon switch and yes my admin console and ISY are both at v5.3.4
CHauschildt Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I just installed a new insteon dimmer switch and am having the same issues as leonpc. Everything worked fine prior to starting the "start linking" button. Now, "linking" window loops continuously and other commands generate "discovering nodes, retry" error window. Saw reference to polyglot but don't know what that is. rebooting, restarting ISY994i don't help. Versions are v5.0.15a both UI and Firmware. Not updated recently.
leonpc Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 Ok I have it working. I finally unplugged the ISY and the PLM. Left them out for about 2-3 minutes then plugged in the PLM and then plugged in the ISY. When I started the admin console it did not give any of the errors but opened a window that said "System Busy..." It took a long time to finish but when it finally closed it was done... No more looping. I have tried to link the switch again by selecting "Start linking" and then on the switch holding the program button for 2-3 seconds. That worked without an issue this time.
